Hey! I’m in the hospital! Been here since Monday! Which was when I went in to my doctor, and then the ER, after a week of what I thought was a terrible flu/period one-two punch, but in reality was a burst appendix! The operation was on tuesday, and lasted 1.5 hours (long enought to scoop out the “completely gangrenous” appendix and “about half a cup of pus,” as well as, I’m beginning to suspect, a big slice of my sense of humor). My fever spiked to 104 the night after the procedure (lots of hurling!), and 103 wednesday, and otherwise hovers around 101, which sucks, but not as much as the random “wow, is somebody stabbing me in the gut?” zaps of pain. I also have a kerazy roommate who talks cumpulsively and keeps the tv cranked up to eleven, watching terrible daytime Dr. Phil. She sings “Itsy Bitsy Spider” to herself. And right now, she’s farting zestily.
