dispatch from a moment (pretentious yet brief)

It is six in morning and you are all fast asleep, your little elbows and toes sheltered under the cover of covers, hands wedged between your perfect knees, grind guards beside you on the pillow, set loose from dream-slackened jaws.

Which means you’re missing it, this ridiculous view, the showy sunrise blushing from sugar-plum peach to fairy-princess blue behind the entire cityscape, Safeway sign to Bay Bridge. I swear, it’s like something straight out of a postcard pinned to the corkboard in the dorm room of a sweet, young freshman.

Of course the fine coffee with surprise just-enough last swish of milk, “Little Girl in Bloom” playing on a tight loop, and glowing, rotating, six-inch Mission-Street fishtank lamp help the moment along, too.

Wish you were here, all you soft, soft bunnies.
